Ebscohost is the platform for many of the databases we subscribe to at the LRC, including APA PsychInfo, CINAHL Complete, Dentistry and Oral Sciences Source, and our ebook collection. Ebscohost is introducing a new user interface beginning on January 6th. It's not dramatically different from a functional standpoint, but it does look different. This guide will cover some of the new features you'll see in January, as well as new ways to do the things you've always done in EbscoHost.
Note: you'll be able to do all of the things you used to do. It will just look a little different.
Dashboard: This is your new landing place when you log into Ebscohsot
Projects Folder: This feature will allow you to save search results, articles, or ebooks in file system so that you can refer to them later. You can find it under your Dashboard.
Save Searches: While you could save searches in the old version of Endnote, you can now include short textual descriptions of these searches and save them in your Projects Folder.
Browse: There is now a browse option that lets you browse publications we subscribe to through Ebscohost. This is especially useful for our Ebook collection.
Alert: You can sign up to get an alert when a new issue of a journal you've selected is published. You can also receive alerts when new articles that meet search criteria you've pre-constructed appear in the database. You could both of these things before, but the feature is now more prominently displayed in your dashboard.
We have heard mixed reports about a potential issue with bulk exports of references in RIS format (i.e. into Endnote). Some have reported you cannot export more than 50 references at a time in the new user interface, making it more difficult to export large sets of results into Endnote. There are workarounds available, like exporting results in smaller batches, or having large sets of results emailed to you. There may be some growing pains as we get used to the new user interface however.
The new UI also includes some features that enhance your ability to read an article.
In addition to downloading an article in pdf format, you can:
