Creating Saved Searches & Auto Email Alerts: CINAHL (EBSCOHost)

Includes instruction on how to save searches and set automatic alerts in PubMed, Ovid Databases, CINAHL and EMBASE.

Create a My EBSCOHost Account

To save searches and set up email alerts, you must first create a My EBSCOhost account, the vendor that provides access to CINAHL and PsycINFO. To do this:

  1. Start at the LRC website and click on the CINAHL or PsycINFO icon under Featured Resources.
  2. From the database's homepage, click Sign In and select Create a New Account. Complete the registration process.

Save Searches & Create Alerts

To save a search and set up an email alert, you will need to sign in and run a search.

From the search results screen, click Share and select Create an alert.

In the next screen, you will need to add the Subject and email address(es), and select format and general settings options.

Often times research involves multiple search strategies or combining searches using Boolean connectors (AND, OR, NOT). To save all of your searches from a CINAHL or PsycINFO session, access the Search History and click Save Searches/Alerts.

  • To view, edit and run saved searches and alerts, click Retrieve Searches or Retrieve Alerts.

You will be prompted to add a name, save search or create an alert. Once you are done, select Save.
