LRC Services During Lapse of Federal Funding (“Shutdown”)

During the Federal Government Closure, LRC staff will be unavailable to conduct any official work, including reading or replying to email and phone messages, maintaining LRC electronic resources, or filling patron requests.

During the closure the LRC’s homepage and associated licensed materials will continue to operate but without dedicated technical support. Please report any problems with subscriptions, system errors, or technical failures to lrc.services@usuhs.edu. This account will be monitored daily and select LRC staff can respond to situations impacting the University’s educational mission. No new LRC accounts will be created.

Please plan accordingly.

Supporting writers at USU: The Academic Writing Center

Located within the James A. Zimble Learning Center, the Academic Writing Center (AWC) serves as a hub for improving writing skills for all members of the USU community – students, faculty, and staff alike. The center offers a diverse range of services, including:

• Individual consultations: Get personalized feedback and support on your writing projects, from brainstorming and organization to clarity and style.
• Workshops: Learn new writing techniques and tackle common challenges through interactive "brown-bag" sessions.
• Faculty support: We collaborate with instructors to provide tailored writing resources and workshops for their classrooms.

Help on demand:

The AWC is committed to providing convenient access to our services. Whether you prefer to connect virtually, asynchronously, or in person, we have options for you:

• In-person appointments: Meet with our writing specialist, Beth Steinbach, for face-to-face guidance on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays at the LRC.
• Virtual appointments: Schedule a session with Dr. Steinbach online for personalized feedback, available Monday through Friday.

The AWC is a free resource available to all USU affiliates. By participating in our programs and services, you can develop strong writing skills that will benefit you throughout your academic and professional journey.

Seeking Workshop Input: Shape Your Writing Journey

We value your feedback on how we can best support your writing development. If you have a specific writing topic you'd like explored in a workshop, please submit your request via the "Submit a Question" button.

Alternatively, if you have a group of three or more individuals interested in a particular writing topic, you can propose your own workshop. Share your ideas and desired learning outcomes through the same button.
