About Electronic Course Reserves

What is Electronic Course Reserves?

Upon request, the LRC will create an E-Reserves page for a given USU course. On that page, the LRC will gather together the full-text readings for that course. Click on the E-Reserves Homepage link to visit the current list of course reserves pages.

How do I set up an Electronic Course Reserves page for my course?

Contact the LRC. Click Contact Us at the top of any LRC webpage and then click the Ask LRC Staff button to submit a ticket. Or, email us at lrc.services@usuhs.edu. We need:

  • Instructor name(s)
  • Course name and title
  • Course start and end date
  • List of readings (journal articles, book chapters, etc.)

When should I set up an Electronic Course Reserves page?

The LRC strongly recommends that you contact us with the list of readings at least two months before the start date of your course. For courses that begin in late summer or the fall, we recommend contacting us by June

Due to the fiscal year turnover, each year the LRC is generally unable to make any purchases between early August and early October.

What kinds of resources can be added to an Electronic Course Reserves page?

  • online journal articles that are part of the LRC collections
  • scanned versions of physical journal articles that are part of the LRC collections
  • entire online books that are part of the LRC collections
  • scanned versions of physical book chapters that are part of the LRC collections

What titles can be added to an Electronic Course Reserves page?

Generally, in order to be added to electronic course reserves, a resource must be:

  • already part of the LRC collections, OR
  • borrowed by the LRC via interlibrary loan (ILL) (restrictions apply), OR
  • purchased by the LRC

See Copyright Rules for Course Reserves for more information.
